Born in Montreal, Barry Coe’s family moved to Brampton in the 1960’s where he met and married his high school sweet heart Susan. A graduate of the Radio program at Humber College, he enjoyed a “twenty year on air affair” with a number radio stations including CHWO and CHML in Southern Ontario. His media experience enabled him to hold a number of senior level communication positions in greater Hamilton for another twenty years.

But Barry is perhaps best known for his years at Amity- Goodwill and Mission Services of Hamilton, both faith based ministries where his Christian values meshed with the mission of both cherished human service agencies.

His work with Mission Services provided him the opportunity to speak at dozens of Churches of various denominations and broaden his knowledge of the different “club rules” of each Church.

He is a lifelong Anglican and attends St. Johns in Ancaster where he acts as lecturer at the 8am service.

Volunteerism has also played a positive role in his life and he is currently on the advisory council and Board of a number of human service organizations.

As a new retiree, Barry thrives as a grandfather to four growing grandchildren under the age of 7 and savours his role as a dad to two grown up children, Ryan and Julia.

Hobbies include gardening and refinishing classic wooden radios from the golden age of radio.

He also enjoy writing for Hamilton Community News and providing commentary on social issues in Hamilton to a number of radio personalities.

Barry writes, “In my new role writing for Faith Strong Today, I will share my perspective on everyday occurrences and how faith plays the key role in everyday life. Your comments are encouraged and I look forward to hearing from you in the days ahead.”
