As we find ourselves at the intersection of faith and culture, it’s important to look to those who are leading with love and pointing others to God. In celebration of International Women’s Day, we wanted to highlight just a few of the strong female voices that are inspiring the church in some incredible ways.
Lysa TerKeurst
The president of Proverbs 31 Ministries and a New York Times bestselling author, Lysa TerKeurst helps make our walk with God an invigorating journey through daily online devotionals, radio programs, online Bible studies, speaker/writing training, and more.
What we love most about Lysa
Lauren Daigle
Lauren Daigle has been making waves taking her faith and music to new heights appearing on programs like The Tonight Show, The Ellen Degeneres Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live. A lot has been said about that crossover to the mainstream, but you can’t deny she is one of the biggest names in Christian music today.
From making history on the Billboard charts to her recent win at the GRAMMY’s for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album, Lauren has utilized every opportunity to thank Jesus and remind us all to keep looking up.
Donna Carter & Kevann Pankhurst
When speaking of inspiring women, we don’t have to look very far outside of the Faith Strong Today family to find a few. Donna Carter and Kevann Pankhurst host a weekly podcast specifically for women called Grow on the Go.
This mother-daughter duo has never shied away from tricky topics, opting instead to shed light on everything from modesty to romance, addiction to self-acceptance. Their latest series, The Biblical Feminist, continues the candid banter and insightful conversation that keep us coming back for more season after season!
Candace Cameron Bure
Oh Mylanta! We’re still coming to terms with saying goodbye to D.J. Tanner in the final season of Fuller House, but actress Candace Cameron Bure is keeping us smiling everywhere else we look.
From her daily social media posts focusing on a name and attribute of Jesus to inviting her followers to sign up for a Sunday devotional, she is unapologetic about her faith. She writes regular devotionals and even has her own T-shirt line with Christian quotes and Bible verses.
Christine Caine
It’s hard not to be encouraged by a Christine Caine. She’s an international speaker, author, and activist. Most importantly, she is a lover of Jesus and lets Him shine through in everything she does.
Of course, Christine practices what she preaches. Along with her husband, Nick, she founded the global anti-human trafficking organization, The A21 Campaign, as well as Propel Women, an organization designed to activate women to fulfill their God-given passion, purpose, and potential.
Melinda Estabrooks
We could point to past episodes of Your Story with Melinda to show you exactly when Melinda Estabrooks started impacting our lives. However, we can’t say enough good things about her latest venture, See Hear Love. It’s a television and radio program geared towards Millennial Women.
In fact, as far as our list goes, you get five for the price of one as Mel’s co-hosts Cheryl Nembhard, Brooke Nicholls, Lisa Pak, and Joanna la Fleur all bring a unique perspective that will help grow your faith and understanding of Jesus.
Roma Downey
Most known for the nine seasons she played Monica on the CBS television series Touched by an Angel, Roma Downey continues to share light in all of her projects. Her latest is LightWorkers Media, an online community to encourage, inspire and unite believers worldwide. That’s something we can get behind!
Hollie Taylor
Okay, okay. We might be playing favourites again. The fact of the matter is our
Outside of broadcasting, Hollie is also the founder and president of WIMM Canada, an organization that helps connect Christian women working in music, broadcasting, publishing, graphics, internet, film, entertainment, and media arts.
To see the impact WIMM Canada has, watch this video I made at one of their events as one of my first assignmets here at Faith Strong Today.
