‘Black Panther’ Actress Letitia Wright Praises God, Offers Hope in BAFTA Award Speech

Letitia Wright wins BAFTA Award

Letitia Wright continues lifting up her faith. You’ll remember that it was only a month ago that the popular actor detailed her inspirational, and personal, relationship with God on Twitter. But just this week, Letitia once again showcased the power of her faith on the big stage.

Wright recently attended that British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, or the BAFTA’s for short. Her stellar 2018 year had earned her a BAFTA nomination for the “Rising Star” category. And, thanks to the voting public, Letitia took home her first ever BAFTA award. But the real story here isn’t the award, it’s the acceptance speech.

Letitia only had two on-screen minutes to give thanks and she didn’t waste a second of them. Letitia began by telling all who would listen how profoundly God’s presence has changed her life.

“I identify myself as a child of God,” Wright began, “and I can’t get up here without thanking God. A few years ago I saw myself in a deep state of depression and I literally wanted to quit acting. The only thing that pretty much pulled me out of that was God, belief, my faith, my family, and an email from BAFTA saying they wanted me to be a part of the BAFTA Breakthrough Brits, and I was like, ‘let me try again.'”

The actor continued, calling herself a “work in progress,” and offered some powerful words of encouragement to those currently struggling with depression.

It’s always great to see successful professionals be forthright with their personal struggles and Letitia Wright’s BAFTA speech is a prime example that nothing can truly get in the way of our hopes and dreams with faith on our side.
