‘Fixer Upper’ coming to an end with a bittersweet goodbye

Chip and Joanna Gaines are closing the door on Fixer Upper for good. The couple announced that the shows hotly anticipated fifth season will be its last. Chip and Jo broke the news to their beloved fans with a heartfelt blog post and video from their home in Waco, Texas.

The Gaines’ describe the show’s conclusion as “bittersweet” and that the show’s upcoming (and final) season will be the best of the series.

“We are really, really proud of season 5,” reads the official announcement. “We laid it all on the field and didn’t hold anything back. We think it’s the perfect finale to this amazing journey we’ve been on.” Fixer Upper Season 5 is set to premiere on HGTV in November, followed by the brand new Fixer Upper spin-off series, Behind the Design.

Chip and Joanna are active members of the Christian Community, frequently using their platform to spread the word of God. The Gaines family has remained dedicated to The Church and their community throughout their meteoric rise to stardom.

The decision looks to be family motivated and came as a bit of a shock to HGTV. Which is understandable. Fixer Upper was one of the most popular shows on the network. But Chip and Joanna were appreciative in their statement, saying “We will forever be thankful for HGTV and this opportunity of a lifetime.”

Chip and Joanna’s blog post and video are available right now on their website.
