A Simple Formula That’s Hard to Comprehend: 1 Cross, 3 Nails, 4 Given

Every year on Good Friday I pull out a framed needlepoint that was sent to me years ago. Its poignant message seems at first to be a math equation but, after closer examination, it is clearly much deeper than that. It says “1 cross, 3 nails, 4 given” and that redemption plan is the exact message we’ll explore on this episode of Hugs From Heaven.

Instant Takeaways

  1. Who but God would embrace certain heartbreak? John 3:16 says, “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
  2. The Gift we were given. It may be hard to comprehend the full magnitude of what Jesus Christ did for us that day. Author Max Lucado may have said it best, writing “When Jesus died on the cross, so did your sin; when Jesus rose again, so did your hope.”
